Taking part in an archaeological excursion is different from a conventional tourist tour. The sites we visit are often at altitude, far from urban centers, and require moderate hiking. Being well prepared makes all the difference.

CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR: Wear comfortable clothes in layers. In the Calchaquí Valleys, you can start the day in cold conditions (10°C / 50°F) and finish in warm weather (25°C / 77°F). Bring a lightweight windbreaker, a long-sleeved shirt for sun protection, and comfortable pants. Footwear is key: wear closed-toe shoes with good soles, ideally already broken in to avoid blisters.

SUN PROTECTION: The high-altitude sun is intense. Bring SPF 50+ sunscreen, a hat or cap, and sunglasses. Even on cloudy days, UV radiation is strong above 2,000 meters.

HYDRATION: We provide water during the excursion, but we recommend bringing a personal water bottle. At altitude, you dehydrate faster even when you don't feel thirsty.

ALTITUDE: If you're not accustomed to altitude, it's normal to feel a bit of fatigue or a mild headache. Avoid heavy meals the night before, get a good night's sleep, and let us know if you feel unwell during the excursion. We walk at a relaxed pace precisely to allow for acclimatization.

WHAT TO BRING: A camera or phone with a full battery charge (the landscapes are stunning). Cash for optional artisan purchases. Any personal medication you take regularly. An ID document.

WHAT TO EXPECT: We are not a quick-photo tour. Our excursions are interpretive: we walk, we stop, we explain, we invite questions. It is a learning experience in the field. Come with curiosity and an open mind.

PHYSICAL CONDITION: "Archaeology in the Valleys" involves moderate hikes over uneven terrain with some uphill stretches. If you have reduced mobility or specific health conditions, please consult us beforehand. "Colonial Tucumán" is more accessible and suitable for all ages.
